Sunflowers have such a human persona, very tall with amazing faces and lots of personality. They look similar but are all completely unique. I think this is why we are drawn to them. I thought it would be amazing to show them at night-time, creating contrasting colours with hints of blue from the night sky, swaying in the gentle breeze. I wanted to show an expressive, slightly abstract style. The paint has a slight texture to add expression and movement and therefore very tactile.
